Good morning Leopold families. As we suffer through this January, the PFO is starting to look ahead to some spring activities so read on to see what's happening at our school:
Book Fair There are still a few volunteer spots left for the book fair. If school is closed tomorrow, the book fair will be too. If you signed up for a Tuesday shift and can transfer that to Wednesday if school is closed, that would be great. We are in need of just a few more volunteers. Many thanks to those who have responded to our requests for volunteering! Remember you can visit the book fair any time to purchase books. The book fair is open Tuesday and Wednesday 8 am to 7 pm and Thursday 8 am to noon. Each teacher has a wish list so be sure to check that out and help build our classroom libraries too. Pajama Day This Friday, January 31, is pajama day for all Leopold students and staff. Leopold students earned more than 500 "focus fives" for displaying respectful behavior between, so classes voted for celebrating with pajama day!! Math Night January 28 during Open Schoolhouse, please join us for Math Night - an evening of fun math games for the entire family. A "Real World Math" parent workshop beings at 7 pm. 40 seats are available for this program, and a sign up will be available in the lobby during Math Night. Each participant will receive a bag of math game goodies to take home. Food will also be provided. Math Night will be rescheduled if school is canceled. Read Your Heart Out Day On February 7 from 9 am to 1 pm, parents are welcome to come to Leopold to read to your child's class in honor of National African American Parent Involvement Day. Please contact your child's teacher if you are interested in being a part of this exciting celebration. Readers can enjoy a dessert and warm drink from the hospitality suite. If you would like more information, please contact Delia Watkins at [email protected]. Box Tops Our next BoxTop contest deadline is February 18. Forms were sent home some time back, but are available online here. We have amazing participation in BoxTop collection, so keep up the great work and let's work toward our goal of filling in the MineCraft creeper in the lobby! High Five Night February 4 will be High Five Night at Open Schoolhouse. Come learn about Leopold positive behavior system and how our kids practice this every day. Pre-K Get Together Night Our Pre-K families are invited to dinner with other pre-K families on Tuesday, February 18 from 6-7 pm in the cafeteria. The PFO will provide dinner, all you need to do is show up and enjoy. Please return the RSVP slip that was sent home with your child so we know how many will attend. Timber Wolf Trample It's hard to imagine in this cold January, but we will soon begin planning for our 9th Annual Timber Wolf Trample! Trample is one of my favorite events and a fun time of year for all of our students and staff. We will have a t-shirt design contest, spirit week, and a pep rally focused on fun and fitness, capped off by a one-mile fun run on May 10. Be on the lookout for information in these weekly emails, on Facebook and backpack flyers! More information can also be found here. Thanks everyone. Have a great week, and let's hope we're not in school until July!! Kris
